Patching the kernel
There's a small upstream change to the Linux kernel that would be very useful to me, so I'm contemplating patching my kernel. Do the instructions for Ubuntu apply straightforwardly to Trisquel and Linux Libre, or is there anything else to consider?
By Ubuntu instructions I mean these: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Kernel/BuildYourOwnKernel
Those instructions invite you to download an Ubuntu kernel, including much proprietary software. The good news is: you do not need to compile a newer Linux-libre yourself. Jxself does it for you. Its repository includes the latest version (5.6, released last month) as well as the current LTS version (5.4, released last November) and older LTS versions. Follow the instructions on https://jxself.org/linux-libre/
