I was thinking of pre-ordering a Mudita phone. What do people here think about it? It claims that it will be under the GPLv3. Has the reason no one posted on this is because the software hasn't been released, yet, or because it might be vaporware?

I think it is interesting. I like that they will have an open source OS. This however doesn't mean there won't be closed source drivers or firmware required so we'll have to see about that. The battery is replacable which is a huge plus. The price is a turn off for me. $315 with discount and $369 full price are a steep ask for what is basically a flip phone. I paid $200 USD for my Pinephone Convergeance and $150 USD for my Pinephone Braveheart. Overall count me in the mildly interested crowd. I won't say i'll never buy one but can't say I will either. I'd take it over a garden variety Android phone (except the Teracube or Fairphone) and most certainly over an iPhone.

Any phone is going to require non-free firmware.

I also don't love love that price, but the fact that it resembles a flip phone does not bother me. Its actually nice to see someone trying to do something different rather than blindly imitate iOS or Android.
