Pidgin ppa

Hallo,
Ubuntu normally doesn't have the current updates for Pidgin in it's repository so I presume this will be the same here. On the Pidgin Site they offer a PPA for Ubuntu users for that reason. Is Trisquel binary compatible with Ubuntu so I can use that PPA?

Yes, it should work. If the PPA is for a newer release of Ubuntu than the one that your Trisquel installation is based on, though, there might be some dependencies that can't be satisfied.

The current Trisquel 4.5 is basically identical to Ubuntu Maverick Meerkat 10.10. All PPAs that support that version of Ubuntu will work with Trisquel. One should be careful about adding different PPAs though, some might contain non-free software. Pidgin is GNU GPL of course, so it's all good.

Thank you very much for the information:-) Do I have to mark this thread as solved somehow?
