**Question**: What do ya'll think of the Pinebook and Pinebook Pro?

**Related**: Aye, so there has been some elsewhere, in particular the [/r/fsf Reddit](https://www.reddit.com/r/fsf/comments/cag8z4/thoughts_on_pinebook_pro/) and the [FSF's Official Forums](https://forum.members.fsf.org/t/pinebook-pro-pine-64/1262) being the most prominent.

**But, Trisquel does support ARM**? Yes, despite this being requested and free software ARM devices growing ([shoutout to the C201!](https://libreboot.org/docs/hardware/c201.html)) in popularity Trisquel doesn't support ARM yet. In fact, Parabola is probably the only major FSDG OS to support ARM. Still, this is a major part of software freedom.

**BUT what about the GPU!**: I believe the [Panfrost](https://panfrost.freedesktop.org/) project can now work well enough to make it free'd.
Might not receive RYF approval, but it should work.

The Pinebook (Pro) is actively discussed in that thread: https://trisquel.info/forum/pinebook-pro-update-199-linux-laptop-almost-ready-go

Panfrost is in good enough shape to handle most graphics needs in a libre manner, I believe. There's a few videos online showing some of Panfrost's capabilities, such as this one from April: https://invidio.us/watch?v=6BwR6KUDRkU

As far as gaining RYF certification, I doubt that that is on the agenda for the PineBook Pro. I'm pretty certain they are using a non-free wifi chip. Of course, an Atheros USB wifi dongle will be a work-around for that.
