PinePhone out of stock
Why is it so hard to get one?
How do I delete this stupid post?
There's nothing stupid about your post. Pine advertises all kinds of great products, but good luck ever being able to actually order one. They are almost always out of stock on anything I would be interested in.
Of course, there is always a theory that the Pine people are deliberately holding their production back because Purism is bribing them into slashing supply. Or more simply buying batches after batches of OEM Pinephones.
More seriously, I sometimes feel that people will now have had plenty of time to ponder about the actual benefits of a mobile phone and realize that nothing it provides is exclusive. Now everyone has had many of them anyway, of all shapes and sorts, so it does not even provide the combined conspicuous display of technological savviness and affluence that pushed sales up.
Even if it is stupid, it would be better to think how to make it useful than delete it. Or if there are talent, they would make it better for you.
So it is others' fault rather than yours.
But yeah, that post seems to be a bit stupid, honestly.

That's exactly what manga-senpai said to the yakuza warlord. Right before he hired ビートたけし to get rid of him.
I don't get it. Why yakuza post on a web forum. They are usually ignorant of computers. It's an ill wind. Their ignorance is our best advantage. And I know ビートたけし but he is a comedian if I remember correctly. Not yakuza. Why he hired a comedian.
Pine64 releases in batches and is not available at any given time. Each batch is available until they sell out. I would suggest signing up for their mailing list for updates or following them on Mastodon for updates on upcoming batch dates. I have a Pinephone Braveheart; Prinephone CE and PineTab. Proof that it is easily possible to buy their stuff if you keep up to date on their availability.
Thanks, I now understand why my last birthday present never arrived. I did not want to be pressing someone generous enough to buy me a phone.
I am flexible, though, I can change my birth date to fit the next batch of Pinephones.
hehe. It never arrived after it was paid for, or there wasn't even an opportunity to pay for it?
Not sure.
I seem to remember that the podules were already out of stock at the time my generous friend slyly tried to ensnare me into further surveillance and tracking.
Maybe I should take the failed order as a portent and resolve to definitely get rid of a mobile phone when the current device comes to its material end. I do zero data with it, so the Pinehone would not really make a difference anyway. I'd love to try it, though.
which PinePhone flavour is recommended, out of the three cheaper ones? KDE, Manjaro, or the Debian style one?

Cheaper ones ? They're all free (as in gratis) distros to my knowledge. I prefer Mobian myself. It has an option for full disk encryption which the others do not. I was not a big fan of the KDE distro but it was strictly due to not liking the cosmetic parts of KDE Plasma compared to Phosh. Lomiri runs the best of the DEs but also is the furthest behind in progress. Manjaro Phosh or Mobian would be my recommendations as they update often and are easy to get used to. The nice thing about the Pinephone is no matter which distro ships on the phone you get it is very simple to test a distro on an SD and to flash it to the EMMC.
Also, does anybody know if there have been any problems with PinePhones being incompatible with any carriers?

I'm sure there has been but nothing widespread enough to get anyones attention that I have seen. What country are you in and what and carrier will you be using ?
Cheers mate.
Brazil carrier Claro. I think we're good.
