I don't know if their is a way to solve your problem I tried turning off Javascript, but that didn't help.

I just thought I'd point this out, but just because you not downloading the program onto you machine doesn't mean your computer is not directly running proprietary software. A Java Applet is really just a regular java binary optimized for the web. Flash and AJAX are the same way. (Don't assume that everything all web based programs are bad, Wikipedia and other MediaWikis use tons of AJAX and a few Java Applets, all of which are free software, and I should point out that I do sometimes use websites with non free scripts). You can read RMS's essay about this problem here

That is probably because the developers of the game have (along with Oracle) forgotten that one of the purposes of Java is that the same binary works on different implementations. The developers live in their own world where everyone uses the official Java implementation and all others are moot. You where most likely using the official JVM in Ubuntu. I tried the website on my brother's computer which uses ubuntu and OpenJDK and got the same result as Trisquel I would suggest you contact the game developers about this (but without the sarcasm I'm using)
