problem with update-manager in Slaine

Greetings,

Since upgrading to 4.5 I have had a problem with my update-manager, this problem did not exist when I had 4.01 installed. Each time I check for updates(I check manually simply because I am not always connected with a high speed connection) my update-manager downloads the updates but hangs when I try to install them. I then have to kill the process and re-run the update-manager. The update-manager then installs the updates with no problems. I want to make sure this is an issue
with my system before trying to find a solution.

Thank you
Richard

For what's it worth, I just installed Trisquel 4.5 on my laptop & also on an older computer that has AMD Sempron processor & I have not had the issues you are having on my computers. My laptop even has a USB wireless & no problems. Just letting you know.

Maybe it is an issue with the upgrade. I installed fresh from an ISO and have not had any issues. Maybe other people who upgraded (vs fresh installs) could post if they are having issues as well. Mampir did you upgrade?

I did a clean install too.

I need to clarify one point. Technically I didn't upgrade from 4.01. I did a clean install of 4.5. I used the term upgrade incorrectly in this instance.

Have you tried doing it from commandline (e.g. sudo apt-get update; sudo apt-get upgrade) vs using the GUI?

Tonight was the first opportunity that I had to try apt from the command line. I was able to update and upgrade with no problem. I guess the problem is with the GUI.

Maybe that fixed it. Next time try from the GUI.

This morning there were some updates available so I tried updating from the GUI. It failed. When I check for updates they are downloaded but the rotating cursor continues to rotate and the install does not work, it just hangs as if waiting for the update to be completed. If I kill the update-manager process and then re-run it the GUI works. However, I am able to update and upgrade from the command line with no problem.

I thought I would post an "update" about my apt-update via GUI problem. I have tried updating using the GUI front end update manager the last two times I have updated and the GUI has worked both times. I have no idea why it now works except that maybe some updates corrected the issue. Anyway, I am now able to use both the command-line and the GUI to do updates.

Thanks for the update! I think I saw an update manager related update in the last day or so.
