Problem when installing Trisquel in external HDD
It´s a 1TB Toshiba HDD, it connects with a 3.0 usb cable. I already installed Trisquel on a 32 GB pendrive (usb 3.0 too) and worked, so I said "cool, now with the Toshiba external HDD" but.... as sth. had to go bad.
It´s not a problem with the partitions, but during installation in the terminal interface that shows the progress it appears me a message like a thousand times:
(date)(time) trisquel kernel (...) reset full speed usb device number 2 using uhci_hcd
(date)(time) trisquel kernel (...) parent hub missing LPM exit latency info. Power management will be impacted.
So I´m like "yea yea, bla bla...." but the progress bar stucks in the middle.
The (...) represents some numbers without importance.
*NOTE: This same post is in the spanish forum, just put this because in the spanish forum seems that some people have few time.
The HDD may be defective. You can self-test it by selecting it in "Disks" (in the "System settings") and using the related entry in the menu (the button with a gear in the upper-right corner of the window).
Magic Banana is probably right. I've done this twice, once with a "good" USB-caddy for the HDD and once with a bad one. The "good" one worked perfectly from the get-go without any hassles, and the bad one was nothing but trouble. Not the HDD, but the caddy itself. Both caddys were for serial HDD's. A third caddy from the same mfg as the bad one, but for IDE HDD's, works OK.

I supposed so, once from all the times I tried appeared to me a message telling me that it was probably a problem with the HDD or the CD (but it was an USB, so i laught when it said I had to clean it). But it´s strange, what kind of problem would be, if I can perfectly do the partitions with GParted? But I can assure that the problem is not the USB, so I think you are right. Can I fix that? I mean, I spent a lot of money to get it.
To be sure that the disk is defective, check its SMART and self-test it. Like I wrote in my post above.
