Question Application Menu Gnome Shell
Gnome Tweak Tool has, under extensions, "show applications menu" and, under Top Bar, "show application menu".
The first puts an application menu on the top bar replacing activities overview.
What is the latter supposed to do? I see no difference whether it's on or off.

I currently don't use gnome-shell, but if I remember correctly it puts the application menu, which normally is in the top bar next to 'Activities' button, at the top left corner of the application window.
Actually, oddly enough, it does the opposite: when it is off, a menu is added to each window in the menu bar which is identical to the menu found in the top by clicking on the application's name.
I see, but it seems to work only in Gnome Classic. Default Gnome there's no visible effect on or off.
It works in regular GNOME for me. Then again, I'm on Debian and have a different version of GNOME (3.14).
I'm on Jessie now. Doesn't change anything in default mode. Strange.
So, that screenshot you posted is a screenshot of GNOME Classic? Because I see the menu it adds right there, on the top-left corner of the window.
Yes, it is Classic. It occurred to me to try that. There it was that I couldn't see on regular Gnome.
