Random resolution changes
Sometimes, perhaps 1 in 20 boots my resolution is off. Suddenly it's 640x480 or whatever instead of 1280x1024. I'm using autologin so it's the desktop resolution and not gdm resolution. Logging out and then again in will magically fix it. This is kinda awkward. I'll be glad to provide any details which would help you help me!

Perhaps it's an issue with your card only. Try to use the same disk in
another computer or use an image created with dd to make an exact copy of
your disk.

You could also change your video card to test if it is that particular model
of card that is the problem or even just that card.

I haven't had the opportunity to test this on other hardware.
Looks like this happens if my monitor is off while booting. It's a perhaps 7 years old CRT monitor. (SAMTRON 76E)
