Rekonq ignores my request to set the default search engine

Rekonq is working OK for me as a standin when Abrowser strikes out on some webpages,
such as cPanel in a previous thread, but it's now insisting that I set a default
search engine, but ignores that I have already selected one ...

Suggestions are welcome.

Whatever the "age" of Rekonq, it is the only browser available from the Trisquel repository
that copes with an important portion of my cPanel for access to webmail settings on my
various Internet domains.

Fast forward to ICANN.org, where Abrowser flunked the login process and Google Chrome turns
out to be the only Windows-friendly browser that Trisquel tolerates, and which is the only
browser that can execute downloads of the TLDzone files for me.

You can also try other (maintained) WebKit based browsers, such as Epiphany/GNOME Web (note that QtWebKit and WebKitGTK+/WebKit2GTK+ are different rendering engines so pages might be rendered differently).
