We are trying Trisquel Sugar 3.0 on Intel Classmate PC (Clamshell
model). Except the wireless card everything else is working
perfectly.
The wireless device is Realtek 8172 (rev 10).

Is there any chance of a free driver for this?

Perhaps this one will help you?: http://rtl8180-sa2400.sourceforge.net/ You will have to compile it from source.

I have the same chipset (though I am under Trisquel 3.5) and have just followed this guide : http://www.linwik.com/wiki/using+the+realtek+8172+and+8192se+wireless+controller+with+ubuntu+9.10 Although it seems odd, you really need to download the driver for Realtek 8192se : http://218.210.127.131/downloads/downloadsView.aspx?Langid=1&PNid=21&PFid=48&Level=5&Conn=4&DownTypeID=3&GetDown=false&Downloads=true#2302

That driver is not free software, the firmware license states this:

"Redistribution and use in binary form, without modification, are
permitted" "No reverse engineering, decompilation, or disassembly of
this software is permitted."

Please do not recommend non free drivers to other users or point to
non-free software from our site.
