Hi, I have a 2008 Dell Core2 Quad with 4gb of RAM and I booted from the CD (6.0 64bit). But after choosing to run from the CD it loaded for a while, ten I got an error about something relating to getting a firmware. Then the screen turned into a multicolored noise, with a cursor looking like a box. And I could do nothing after this.

What can I do to test Trisquel, and maybe even install and run it with no problems? (My Pc currently has Win 8)

I just installed TSQ 6.0 over the top of ubuntu 12.10.
If you boot with the CD in it should give you option to run it from the CD.
But then again you are using windows...so i have no reference.

Hello there! When you boot from the CD, isn't there an option to do an integrity check of the CD? Have you done that?

Besides that it could be a hardware compatibility problem. I believe there are some extra parameters available you could try. I don't have a live media handy right here so I can't easily take a look under which F1...F12 those were.

Seems to me that trisquel didn't correctly detect your graphics card or screen resolution. If you see the trisquel boot menu, maybe you can try different resolutions. I don't know if this bypasses X11 autodetection, but it might be worth a shot.

If anyone knows a way to prevent x11 autodetect or x11 autostart from CD, I'd be delighted to hear.

What you have to do is the following:
When Trisquel's menu appears. Press F6 and cross (select) "nomodeset", press Esc and enter.

ps: you must select your keyboard and langauge before.

[Off Topic (sorta)]

I looked at the title of this post and couldn't help but think of this (see attachment) when I read it.

If that's picture is under some free licensing you should include it under some wiki tutorial of how to run trisquel's live-CD

I also had problems installing trisquel, what I did was download/install Ubuntu 12, and then I transformed to Trisquel with this guide -> http://trisquel.info/en/wiki/migrate-ubuntu-trisquel-without-reinstalling
