In Fedora there is a possibility to add a resizeable area to the gnome-panel, which acts as a substitute for the Alt+F2 command. Everything that is entered there autocompletes according to what you have entered there before. Enter executes the command. It's very neat and helps to keep the desktop perfectly clean, no shortcuts for most used programs are needed. It is a small thing and probably won't take much work to implement. Is there a reason why Trisquel doesn't have that? Or does Trisquel have that and I'm just oblivious to where it is?

The Deskbar-Applet seems to have the same features or at least similar with the ones you are talking about.
I'm not sure if it's in the default configuration but is definitely in the repositories.
