Switching desktop to a window manager?

Is it possible to switch the desktop environment to den for instance. I am taking a C programming course for school and would love to have a window manager that’s snall enough for me to modify and understand it’s code. So I am wanting to switch the default desktop to dwm. Could I still switch between the two of them?

Yes, if multiple desktops are installed, there should be an icon on the login screen that allows you to pick which one you want to use. To switch, just log out, pick the other one, and log in again.
