System Proxy

Hello all.

I am new to the free software movement and to libre GNU/Linux and am giving trisquel a go because I feel it has what I need in an OS. That being said, I've been trying to figure out how to set the system proxy server. I can do it in the web browser and in synaptics which have their own proxy interfaces, but for programs like pidgin which ask you to configure it in Gnome preferences, I haven't found and interface for.

Is there something I'm missing, does it have to be entered into the command line. If so, then how?

Thank you all for your patience and time on this subject.

Sincerely,
Grimlok

Hello there!

I think you might have to do it via gconf-editor. Can't remember if that's installed by default.

(If that works and you wish to include it in a script, take a look at gconftool.)
