I just downloaded the Taranis RC and messed around with it a bit, and I have to say that, for the most part, I really like it. The default desktop background looks very nice, and combined with the darkened panel on the bottom of the screen, it's really easy on the eyes (i.e. not too bright). However, I have a couple of minor problems. I don't know if it's too late to complain about them, but I might as well try.

If you go to Main Menu > Places > Recent Documents, it brings up a menu with a white background which doesn't match the other menus which have black backgrounds.

There are a couple of problems with the Ubuntu Software Center (software-center in the repositories). The biggest problem is that it doesn't work. If I try to start it from the command line, I get the following:

trisquel@trisquel:~$ software-center
Traceback (most recent call last):
File "/usr/bin/software-center", line 78, in
from softwarecenter.app import SoftwareCenterApp
File "/usr/share/software-center/softwarecenter/app.py", line 42, in
from view.viewswitcher import ViewSwitcher, ViewSwitcherList
File "/usr/share/software-center/softwarecenter/view/viewswitcher.py", line 34, in
from softwarecenter.backend.channel import SoftwareChannel
File "/usr/share/software-center/softwarecenter/backend/channel.py", line 22, in
from softwarecenter.distro import get_distro
File "/usr/share/software-center/softwarecenter/distro/__init__.py", line 88, in
distro_instance=_get_distro()
File "/usr/share/software-center/softwarecenter/distro/__init__.py", line 77, in _get_distro
module = __import__(distro_id, globals(), locals(), [], -1)
ImportError: No module named Trisquel

This is a shame. I would really like to be able to use the Software Center to manage applications in Trisquel; I like it better than the default Add/Remove Applications program.

The other problem is that it probably shouldn't be called the "Ubuntu" Software Center in Trisquel.

Oh, one more thing: Main Menu > Lock Screen seems to activate the screensaver instead of locking the screen.

Does it ask for the password when comming back from screensaver? The
screensaver is activated upon blocking.

I don't know. The screensaver works fine now that I've actually installed Taranis.
