I am trying to learn texinfo for making my document. I learnt about texinfo. The synaptic manager shows "texinfo and info documentation that is non-free".

Why is it there? Why non-free included?

Who can I ask or request to get info about the package? Why is it included?

You're talking about this package http://packages.trisquel.info/slaine/doc/texinfo-doc-nonfree right? Ubuntu put this package in universe (free software) for some reason, which is probably how it ended up here.

You should file a bug report here http://trisquel.info/en/project/issues. Freedom issues are considered critical bugs in Trisquel.

Texinfo is released under the terms of the GNU Free Document License v1.2 (see the source: http://archive.trisquel.info/trisquel/pool/main/t/texinfo-doc-nonfree/texinfo-doc-nonfree_4.13a.orig.tar.gz). Obviously, the Free Software foundation considers its own license Free... but not the Debian project that packaged this documentation: http://people.debian.org/~srivasta/Position_Statement.xhtml

Hello,

Ok. I read the content on the links Magic Banana has provided.
It seems its free as in freedom sense. So if GNU Free Documentation License is okay with this then its okay with me too.

Thanks for your replies. Take care.
