Thinkpad keyboard

Thinkpad X230, GNU/Linux Trisquel;

The @ key and the " key do the wrong job. When pressed the other character is shown which can be a tad annoying. I asked on the Thinkpad forum but for some reason cannot sign in and the mods have not responded yet.

I don't know how to re-map a keyboard or whether this is a Thinkpad or OS issue.

Is it possible to change the key assignment and if so how ?

What is your physical keyboard layout? What is the labelling?

The package input-remapper apparently provides a solution with a graphical interface.
