Trisquel 11 Is Released
Our fearless leader Rubén released Trisquel 11 during his live stream at the FSF's LibrePlanet conference. It's out now! Hooray!
\o/!
That. Was. Amazing!
Well done to all involved.
\o/ thanks to Ruben and all the Trisquel team!
Here's Rubén's talk at LibrePlanet today Sunday March 19 that has the release of Trisquel 11. It's titled "Trisquel GNU/Linux, new architectures and other challenges"

I like this video, it time to upgrade!
I watched the video today. Thanks for these insights and thank you for hosting the video!
Edit: I also want to say that the wallpaper is really nice -something I won't change while having fun with this release
Hi and congratulations to all!
Great video, thank you for the link!
It was great to watch Ruben with my other half who is moving into Trisquel as well, very proud to see him leave windoze!
I am catching up after being knocked out by one of those colds that make you go to bed :)... all good now and happy to see Trisquel blossoming
I'm going to watch the video in the few next days. I installed Trisquel 11 RC1 on one of my spare harddisks a few days ago. I have so many of them.
Smooth sailing upgrading from within Nabia to Aramo. Many thanks to Rubén and the Trisquel team!
please how is possible to upgrade from Nabis to Aramo in the best way? sometimes I make mistake using the terminal
You can execute that in a terminal:
$ sudo do-release-upgrade
If that does not work:
$ sudo do-release-upgrade -d
Neither of those worked for me.
I visited:
https://trisquel.info/en/forum/how-upgrade-trisquel-8-trisquel-9
comment #5 and substituted the appropriate distribution names.
> Neither of those worked for me.
Running apt dist-upgrade (or apt full-upgrade) before do-release-upgrade helped at times, in such cases.
$ sudo do-release-upgrade -d
is working on my second machine. I must have missed something the first time around.
Thanks.
Yay. Time to celebrate... ehm, I mean, upgrade :-D
Ha ha!
My English is very bad...I was looking at the livestream and I didn't understand Rubén...He got a laptop and pressed a button....Exciting moment! applauses and hooray but I didn't get it at all
:]?
> He got a laptop and pressed a button
That sums it up pretty well. That is why he is our fearless leader. Whenever I press a button on a laptop, something wrong happens.
That is how Trisquel 11 was released. In reality he had everything all queued up and ready to go in advance so that, when it came time, all he had to do was press the button and it would be done.
..
Congratulations and thank you very much to all Trisquel Developers and Community! Thank you Ruben Rodriguez. Cannot wait to install it on my laptop.
Sincerely yours,
Malsasa
in Distrowatch there is no published the announcement about the new release...
(maybe in the next days)...
Distrowatch now publishes Trisquel 11 release news https://distrowatch.com/11792. I think this is because they wait for the blog post announcement to quote. Thank you Ruben, once again.
Sincerely yours,
Malsasa
Well for that matter even the Trisquel blog hasn't officially published the release announcement yet (but I guess that will come after a well deserved break and celebration by Ruben and the team). Thanks and congratulations to Ruben and all the contributors and community!
Many thanks for this release. I used the link provided for Kubuntu LTS users to upgrade the KDE base and everything is working perfectly with no instability.
Thank you Ruben Rodriquez. I really appreciate the latest blog post announcement https://trisquel.info/en/trisquel-110-aramo-release-announcement. This helps all authors to write about Trisquel 11 on their respective websites (including me).
Sincerely yours,
Malsasa
ive downloaded the iso of kde an tried to install it but i cant because of a missing free firmware problem:
[ 129.266193] 0000:06:00.0: Missing Free firmware (non-Free firmware loading is disabled)
[ 129.271465] r8169 0000:06:00.0: Unable to load firmware /*(DEBLOBBED)*/ (-2)
_
ive installed 10.0.1 many times and never ran into this problem. can someone help me plsss
That message shouldn't be an issue to stop you from installing, several devices report missing firmware and still work correctly, like ethernet network cards and more recently the AMD/ATI graphics cards that work without hardware acceleration but still provide the right resolution for most cases.
I've seen an old Dell machine taking like 3 minutes just to pass from the initial sequence boot to the first picture greeter, could it be that you might need to wait a bit longer?
Cheers.
update: actually yes, i managed to install it but still i cant boot the OS. when i first boot the iso live and click the option to install trisquel i see the same message but it quickly goes away and i can start the installation. after the install is complete and the pc rebootsa i get stuck on the same message again. Also im using an intel i5-9400f so i really dont think the performance of the cpu is a problem. thanks for replying!
That's weird, more if you are not using any AMD/ATI card, please fill up your machine details and any other information on an issue so we can take a closer look.
Regards.
managed to install it, but ran into another problem. im stuck at 1024x768 resolution. i took a look at some threads about this and all of them says you either need a sy update or to install a driver from amd/nvidia. ive installed all updates for aramo and still i cant change the resolution, but i really dont want to use amd drivers. do you know another way to solve this issue? Thanks again :D
Hi to everyone! I would to like to know when there is the e.o.l. of Trisquel 10 and when that of Trisquel 11. Thank you in advance.
You need to read the Trisquel Blog my friend:
"Trisquel 10.0, codename "Nabia" is finally here! This release will be supported with security updates until April 2025."
"Aramo is based on Ubuntu 22.04LTS and will receive support until 2027."
You can check the date with,
- software-properties-gtk or
- software-properties-qt
Depending on what desktop environment you are.
