[Trisquel 4.5] Messages at shutdown

I have a whole bunch of rapidly scrolling messages at shutdown. Quite annoying. Where can I find them so that I can try to understand what's going on? /var/log/messages? Anywhere else?

Indeed, taking a look at /var/log/messages (which is timestamped) is a good idea. You can read the logs from a graphical utility in the System/Administration menu.
