Trisquel 9 Development and Contribution
I'm thrilled we finally have Trisquel 8. I was wondering if there is some form of start date or initiation action that happens when we start Trisquel 9. When do we start?
I'm particularly interested in decentralizing the development so it is somehow easier for everyone to contribute.
...I don't mean for this to be a sensitive topic by the way. I just want to kind of get things rolling if they can begin to roll.
Maybe a call for testing?
I have no idea about coding...

It seems Jodienda knows moar about it, they are already installing stuff on T9 (nine)..
I thought he was figuratively speaking... Would be cool if s/he responded to this post!

Jodiendo isn't using Trisquel 9. If you want to ask questions or share
suggestions about Trisquel 9 development, the next Freedom Friday
meeting is probably the place to do it. 11am EST.

..and he ruined it..

Step 1 was to agree on a name. There was an announcement some months back that a name had been chosen, and development started:

Me too. There was some discussion in that announcement of what the Trisquel devs have been doing to set up new dev infrastructure, partly to make it easier for more people to contribute. I see you'd already read that announcement though, since you commented on it at the time ;)
I can understand why the Trisquel dev team are hesitant to speculate about release dates. If they say "we hope to have it out by date X', that is likely to be treated as a promise by some impatient end uses, with much wailing and gnashing of teeth resulting if the target isn't met.
But it would be great to see some kind of roadmap for roughly what has to be done on each Trisquel release, in what order, expressed as a series of stages. That way, all that would need to be done to keep the user community updated is a short notice (a post on a fediverse account?), with a link to that roadmap, saying something like:
"Trisquel X update: All stages completed up to Stage 3. Stage 3, 4, and 5 in progress now."

Does anyone take any notes at these meetings? Or at least logs? If so, is there a place on the website they are posted, so those who can't attend can read them?

This would be useful. I don't know if anyone is currently doing it.
Nope. One merely shows up in #trisquel-dev at the appointed time. Or if they can't, maybe they join the channel and leave their IRC client running so that it can capture what's said for later reading.
