Hello!

I have two graphic cards in my notebook. The "Intel HD Graphics 530" and the "Nvidia Geforce 980m".

When i watch movies on Youtube in fullscreen then my notebook is becoming warm and also pretty loud (because the fans are running on high speed then)... this problem i never had on windows.

So; are there any solution for this problem? Are there maybe any special driver for the Geforce 980m? Or are the any possibility to switch between my graphic cards to choose intel HD as standard and sometimes the Geforce when needed?

And are there maybe any free software to control the fans in my notebook when i use trisquel?

Thanks for help in advance and best regards

You can install the latest Linux-libre kernel and see if it better supports your hardware: https://jxself.org/linux-libre/

You can also try to disable the nVidia card from the BIOS configuration (Intel's free drivers are much better than nVidia's, and I heard Intel hardware is better at video decoding too) or to physically remove the nVidia card from the notebook. In this way, you would also save energy (hence battery).

no, you need bumblebee: http://bumblebee-project.org/

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:bumblebee/stable
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install bumblebee primus virtualgl linux-headers-generic

good luck
