I have given the Trisquel Mini 4.0 a fairly thorough test run. I've managed to find a lot of bugs and things that could be improved. Frankly, this feels like a beta. I hope most of these issues can be resolved be resolved before the next release.

Major issues:

  • On a laptop, closing the lid freezes the system and requires rebooting
  • Hibernate and suspend do not work
  • There is no app for music management, CD ripping, or song tagging. Lubuntu includes Aqualung, which does all of these things and even plays radio stations. It's not exactly "lightweight", but it's lighter than Exaile.
  • YouTube videos do not play.
  • Midrori can not play media files (like .mp3, .ogg and ). You currently have to use an external application like Gnome MPlayer.

    Minor issues:

  • "Time and Date" missing
  • "Users and Groups" missing
  • The GNOME help viewer is missing
  • No spell checking in Midori or AbiWord
  • The default panel width and font sizes are likely too small even for small resolutions (Lubuntu has a larger font size than Trisquel Mini and its panel is 24px whereas ours is 22px)
  • Pidgin is possibly more lightweight than Empathy (not sure, but Lubuntu has Pidgin even though the main Ubuntu has Empathy)
  • sylpheed-doc is missing
  • Icons in gnome-app-install do not show up
  • The new Ease application (a lightweight slideshow viewer/editor) should be included

    Another minor issue:

We should include scrot so users can take screenshots. It's a very small package. Screenshots can be taken by pressing PrntScrn (or Fn+PrntScrn on laptops) and automatically are saved (with timestamps) in the /home folder.

vdpau is only for the proprietary Nvidia driver - you should be able to
    safely ignore this.
