trisquel-netinst_5.5_i386 Installation step Failied (Qemu)

I'm running the net install of trisquel in qemu to try it out. The step
that fails is `Select and install software'. I've reran the step a
number of times with the same result.

Any ideas?

hey kevin, I also had some problems with qemu and then I switched to virtualbox which in my opinion is more mature piece of software and the problems were gone. trisquel 5.5 netinstal under virtualbox worked just fine for me! I used trisquel 5 as a host and trisquel 5.5 netinstall as a guest with networking as NAT!

Hmmm, I've just installed VirtualBox and attempted to reinstall. I get
to the same point and get to the same error. The image has the correct
md5.

Both (qemu, virtualbox) installations followed the same pattern; I
forgot the mention that setting the encrypted home directory causes that
step to fail but it appeared recoverable. Maybe it is that failing which
is causing problems later in the install. I will reinstall without
setting encrypted home directory.

Reinstalling with unencrypted home directory didn't help. Still get this
error. Downloaded the full installer image, can't install that
either. The MD5 of the images are correct. I'm giving up for now.

It appears this problem is not specifically a Trisquel issue. I have
attempted to install Debian Squeeze with the same setup and get the same
issue. It looks to be a problem with debian-based install systems on this
setup. I'll delve more into it but won't bother trisquel-user again,
unless I find answers.

Thanks for your time.

maybe you can give us some more info:
which version of virtualbox do you use?
what kind of error do you get?
which operating systems do you use for host/guest?
how many ram do you have on host/guest?
which settings on virtualbox do you use?
is 2d & 3d video accelerator turned off?
