Released today: the long-awaited, and oft-requested Trisquel
installation walk-through, in which I install from the live media, onto
an old laptop, whose hard drive had been shredded pre-install. Link below.

Thanks; I like the way 4 and 5 came out, and think 5 is my best yet.
Feeling more confidence in my speaking.

I don't have time to listen to all the episodes but what I've heard sounds really nice. Well done, Dave! :-)
Just one question I'm asking myself right now: Would it be possible for a blind person to install Trisquel by just following your podcast and the instructions from the Orca screenreader?

I'm a blind person who installed by just following the instructions from
Orca, so, Yes!
Maybe we need to find a total newbie as a research subject; I've the
curse of knowledge. LOL.

Oh, okay. I didn't know that. Well, in that case it would really help to test with a total newbie.

I know that there is a community for blind GNU/Linux users (http://leb.net/blinux/). That would maybe be a good place to ask.

HiYes it is very possible.

I had no problems getting trisquel installed.

Guys, I just found something called GNUSpeech: https://www.gnu.org/software/gnuspeech/. "gnuspeech makes it easy to produce high quality computer speech output, design new language databases, and create controlled speech stimuli for psychophysical experiments. gnuspeechsa is a cross-platform module of gnuspeech that allows command line, or application-based speech output."

That might be of interest for you even though I'm not sure whether it would be a real competitor to Orca.

The first official release just came out.

If actually implemented as part of a screen reading system, it could provide
truly awesome speech. Orca's currently at the Microsoft Sam stage of shittiness
when it comes to speech... as are basically all text-to-speech things right now.

GNUSpeach isn't a competitor to orca; they are different things. Orca is a screen reader; GNUSpeach is a synthesis engine. Over on the orca mailing list, there is some discussion of supporting this engine for use with the screen reader. Thanks for your suggestion!
