Unetbootin not in repository
I understand the reason that Unetbootin is not in the repository. Being that it technically offers support to install non-free distributions onto a usb pendrive.
However, It is quite useful as a tool for creating a bootable USB drive. The same rationale could be used to remove the dd if= of= terminal command.
Is there any plans to add it back in the future. After all we all can choose to not use it to install those other non-free distributions.
You know you can download the executable and use it without install it, right?
dd doesn't suggest installing proprietary software unlike unetbootin.
Do you know there's startup disk creator which does the same job? (either
menu > system settings > startup disk creator or terminal > usb-creator-gtk)
Oh, I didn't try the startup disk creator. Doh.
Thanks Lembas.
It's too bad it suggests and provides links to the other distributions. unetbootin is pretty reliable.
Have any of you guys tried a full install of trisquel to a USB drive that is portable?
That way it can be plugged into any computer and booted as though it's a standard install not just a "live dvd"?
