urgent help needed with X on trisquel mini
i have both versions of trisquel 5.5 the normal( the gnome fallback )
and the mini(lxde) flavour installed on my laptop.
when i installed the gnome edition i did a erase hard-drive and install trisquel in the installer.
and when i installed the trisquel-mini flavour i used the install besides trisquel option in the installer i installed a few development tools and IDE s using synaptic on both installs
the packages installed fine on the gnome edition but synaptic on mini quit with some errors which were along the lines of "respos. not found" i think my wi-fi was disconnected, i thought it would be ok if i closed the synaptic window and shutdown the system but the next time i booted up the mini install got to the login window i typed in my password-username but i was presented with an error which was
unable to write to /tmp , x server may quit unexpectedly.
this message stays on for a little time and i am redirected to the login screen.
on the other hand the gnome install is just fine infact i am logged into it right now.
i really don't want to reinstall trisquel mini i just want to find a workaround to this problem and make the existing mini install usable again .
Any help will be much appreciated .

problem solved on irc by @orly_owl
the solution was to delete the cache files from var/cache/apt .
my root partition was filled up completely.
When your write that "both versions of trisquel 5.5 the normal( the gnome fallback ) and the mini(lxde) flavour installed on my laptop", do you mean each of them has its own root partition? You could simply have installed the package trisquel-mini (and, if you wish, trisquel-mini-recommended) on the GNOME edition. In this way, you do not waste disk space, need not configure the same components several times and need not reboot to go from one environment to the other (you only need to close the session and select the other one from the login screen).
