Hi all,

My father had lately problems with windows and after a year seeing me using Gnu-linux without major problems, i.e, without virus and more consistent and balanced experience desktop he is now willing to accept installing a more libre OS. He asked me what programs can he run like Pinacle (version 16), where he can editing family videos , browsing and see videos without a lot workaround.
But to attend his necessities i am thinking installing on his pc Ubuntu, not Trisquel because it is more easy to him to bear the transition. And after that installing the video editor best for him.
What advices you can say to me?
Thanks in advance,

Anyway, regarding video editors, how does Openshot or Kdenlive work?

Thanks davidnotcoulthard!
I will see and try with a live usb these programs. Answering your questions about "that way" i thougth maybe it is more easy for my dad to work with his pc in a more functional way. He never played with Gnu-linux he was always on windows.
What if he is surfing on net and cannot see a video that requires java? At least on Ubuntu he can play and see it. I know this "solution" is not the very best, but still it is a step towards gnu-linux system. And if i put Trisquel lot of sites cannot be seen at least directly. Myself i have great difficulties to solve these problems. For instance i cannot see "Anitube site -->http://www.anitube.se/video/84692/Non-Non-Biyori-Repeat-06 )and i dont know how to make a workaround past using Flash video downloader , unplug or UACONTROL etc. What if this question happens to my dad? He will say "Come on, noting works on net, i cannot see videos, better staying offline all the time?"
About Debian, i thougth about it too :D And frankly i liked in some things way more in Debian than in Trisquel, But in Trisquel it is more easy "to work" and the fonts are just more beautiful...

Hey Folks,

I used Pinacle a number of years ago for video editing/creation. I used it to create virtual tours of homes for sale. After my switch to Linux I used Pitivi and now use Openshot. Never used Kdenlive as I not used KDE or related apps very much. Between the two I found Pitivi to have less of a learning curve than Openshot but like the options of Openshot a little more.

So far as the distro to use I love Trisquel. I am in the process of switching my wife's and I main laptops over to Trisquel. She was a Windows only user up to about a year ago. I had her try Zorin 9 Core and she liked it then she used Ubuntu Gnome 14.04 but wants to try something new and we both believe in the premise and goals of Trisquel. After she spent about 15 minutes with Trisquel and read everything about the distro she said install it.

Hope this is of some help!
Tim
