Virtual machine to use Brave, Epic & Tor browsers
Hi,
on my notebook I currently use the Trisquel 8 operating system.
With Trisquel 8 I cannot install a VPN service.
For privacy reasons a few days ago I tried to install the 3 browsers below:
- www.brave.com,
- www.epicbrowser.com and
- WWW.torproject.com.
As the 3 above privacy browsers are incompatible with the Trisquel operating system, I have the idea to install a virtual machine on the Trisquel OS.
Please tell me;
1) is it possible to:
- install www.virtualbox.org or www.whonix.org
- install on the virtual machine a Linux system other than Trisquel and
- install the 3 above privacy browsers?
2) if so, which Linux operating systems are compatible to install the Brave, Epic
Browser and Tor browsers?

Since your concern is privacy, I assume that you mean that you want to
install a VPN *client* in order to use a VPN service, not run your own
VPN service. You can do this on Trisquel. I personally use Mullvad.[1]

Brave is free software, but privacy-wise it is not a replacement for
using Tor or a VPN. I'm also not a fan of this "Basic Attention Token"
stuff. They seem to think that there is a right way monetize human
attention. I use uBlock origin to block all ads. I would not want my
browser to replace those ads with it's own.

This is proprietary software, so I so not recommend using it.

I do recommend using Tor Browser. I think it's actually better than a
VPN, although I use both.

I have no idea why you think that, or why you think that you can't
install a VPN client in Trisquel.
To get started with Tor Browser, you just need to download[2] an
executable tarball, extract it, and launch it. If you would like to be
able to open it from launchers and menus like other programs, I have
written some scripts which set this up.[3]

Yes, although you have no reason to if all you want to do is use Tor
Browser or a VPN.

These browsers should be compatible with any GNU/Linux distribution,
including Trisquel. However, I advise against using Epic, and I am
skeptical of Brave.
Download Tor Browser, extract, run the executable.
To add menu entry, run @ Tor Browser folder in terminal:
./start-tor-browser.desktop --register-app
You might need to log out/in to update the menu.
