Krita, it is perfect for these tablets.

Looks like there is also something called mypaint in the repos that's supposedly specifically for wacoms according to the package description.

I using mypaint on Thinkpad x200t, works perfect, but not so advances as GIMP or similar.

I have the idea of using wacom tablets, for fast sketch/draw and ilustration, not for editing image or adding layers. Maybe i wrong on this.

Krita is probably the best free tool to "draw from scratch". I normally use GIMP with Gimp Paint Studio add-on, because that's what I've used for years and feel comfortable with, but I'm planing on switching to Krita, as GIMP is more oriented to photo editing.
Mypaint is great for fast sketches and newbies because of its simplicity, but lacks regular tools like "select region"+cut+paste (last time I checked, at least).
Last but not least, Inkscape for vector drawing.

Now it's your job to find which one suits you best. As always, no one es better than the other, and they're only tools... the artist is you! ;P.

@jodiendo, Krita should work fine with any wacom that is supported by Linux.

Pixel art programs are also worth it (I know 2 of them in the repo, can't remember the names right now).

Yes. The other one I was thinking of was Grafx2.
