But I guess the pdf book on http://www.ecma-international.org/publications/standards/Ecma-334.htm is not free.
Just note http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mono_(software)#Mono_and_Microsoft.27s_patents, especially the Stallman quote.
My PERSONAL view on this:
1. I absolutely support free software, not non-free software.
2. Mono is free software. I myself consider Mono is a brave challenger to the related non-free software.
3. In future if Mono could not keep its freedom, I will stop learning or using it.
Item 3 should be completed with "... stop distributing my programs (because Microsoft's patents force me to), i.e., throw away all my code and have the users complain that they now have to switch to another program (losing their previous work if you did not implement standard formats)."
