This morning I ran Software Updater on my desktop Trisquel installation, and it told me I might have a broken system. It even suggested where to look, but now I can't find the log so I can copy & paste the complex suggested command in the console. I even tried installing Software Log Viewer, but that application was impossible to find in the Trisquel menu. I search the 'Net for clues but no one seems to care to see what Software Updater does ... The files in /var/log have cryptic names, and there are too many to open them all and then look at the entire length of each log.

Where is Software Updater's log file, and what is its name ?

Never mind about the Software Updater log file.
I took a picture of the Software Updater window in a second desktop.

In two Trisquel 7 installations on desktops with Intel D865GLC motherboards, the message is:

> Try running the command
> gdk-pixbuf-query-loaders > /usr/lib/i386-linux-gnu/gdk-pixbuf-2.0/2.10.0/loaders.cache
> to make things work again for the time being.

This did not happen in a dual-boot MicroCenter PowerSpec desktop running Ubuntu/Trisquel 7.

It's an Ubuntu bug that's been around for years:

I'll just ignore it ...

While trying to troubleshoot what might have caused a couple of issues, I looked again at Software Log Viewer, but it comes up blank and there seem to be no options except "filter." As there is nothing to filter, it appears to be /dev/null.

What can start Software Log Viewer and fill it with past software installations/upgrades, etc ?

The Gnome package manager (https://help.gnome.org/users/gnome-packagekit/stable/) is of no help whatsoever, as it assumes you already know what to look for by name ...
