Why FSF page has ads?
When I visit the Free Software Foundation page my uBlock stops one ad. Isn't this a contradiction?
Hi, im a native Spanish Speaker, and i think the english language its very easy for learnning. It is a very beautyful and practical language, while the spanish language is modified constantly according where in the earth you are right now, there are no 2 neighbor towns speaking the exact same spanish. For this same reason it is a very large and rich language, you just need to see how many Synonyms has the "Penis" word.
But yes, it is good that in my language "Gratis" and "Libre" are 2 different words with different meannings.
Hi, it's not an Ad.
Ublock is blocking this script for some reason: /piwik.$script,domain=~piwik.org -- script https://piwik.fsf.org/piwik.js
As far as I know, Piwik is free/libre software that you install in your
own website (in this case I *think* that FSF installed in their
website), and which allows them to check things like "how many visits
that page had?".
This is different than the privacy invasive Google
AdWords/AdSense/Analytics triplet, because Piwik is made so that you
install it on your own site, rather than relying on a single provider
(Google). This avoids a potential centralized provider (assumed to be
Google) making use of what he gathered for his own obscure tracking
goals.
