Dear Trisuellians,

thanks for your activism.

So Trisquel is Ubuntu based and includes only free software (under FSF
license) software and drivers?

Why Ubuntu and not Debian?

Actually i am pretty happy with almost all my Debian 9 and 10 installations.

(Debian 10 had a little (again) Network Manager problem and thus was not
able to connect to Wifi...
https://dwaves.org/2019/10/23/wifi-connection-problems-under-debian-10-buster-sme-deauth-request-to-the-driver-failed-on-debian-10-mate-gnome2-desktop-network-manager-gnome/
but that could also have been caused by me only installing mate-core and
not mate-full, the less software the better)

just askin'

software minimalism is key to a secure and stable system

Tor bundle has it's own update process, and now it's broken X-D

(won't start anymore on Trisquel 8 have no idea why...)

Please check the archives. The base of Trisquel has been discussed many times before.

gNewSense is a FSF endorsed distro that is based on Debian. It is currently being developed actively again for the first time in years. It's website is here:

Personally I don't really get the Ubuntu hype. I much prefer Debian as well though Trisquel is an exception to that rule.
