Can you buy an usb ar9565 wifi card?
I can only find ar9271 usb wifi cards. About debian 8 64bit main, ar9271 will not work unless you install http://packages.trisquel.info/belenos/all/open-ath9k-htc-firmware/download. Is the above firmware known to having an error making files in /var/log much bigger and in result occupying all free space on the hdd? Thanks.

You wanna use it on Debian? It's in the sid repository.

Thank you.
I rather not add a repository for one packet of software.
Is open-ath9k-htc-firmware 1.4.0-81-gf206e56+dfsg-2 a later version of open-ath9k-htc-firmware_1.3-1_all.deb?
Is open-ath9k-htc-firmware 1.4.0-81-gf206e56+dfsg-2 libre software?

You can download the package from https://packages.debian.org/sid/all/firmware-ath9k-htc/download and install it with 'sudo dpkg -i' or with a double click on it if you first install GDebi (from the package manager).

If it is only one package with no or very few dependencies (which you can downgrade eventually in case something goes wrong), then why not?

You add the sid repo, install the package and then remove the line again from sources..
