youtube viewer
i have found freetube which is free software and uses youtube dl
Tried it out right away this evening - works real well, and looks great. Thanks!

FreeTube uses Electron, which is blacklisted by Hyperbola since it contains embedded Chromium.
FSF says embedded chromium is free software from what I'm reading.
https://directory.fsf.org/wiki?title=Chromium_Embedded_Framework&oldid=34170
But Parabola still blacklists Chromium hence Qt5-WebEngine for semi-nonfree. The Chromium "embedded framework" is not yet accepted for Parabola for unknown reasons.
Freetube was added to FSF's list of free software as of noon today: https://directory.fsf.org/wiki?title=FreeTube&action=history
Maybe Parabola will change their minds about it, I don't know. I'm using Trisquel and my own home-spun libre version of opensuse Tumbleweed right now, rather than Parabola. I've never tried Hyperbola and don't have much interest at this time.
Indeed. Wire uses it: https://directory.fsf.org/wiki/Wire
It is listed among the "programs related to FSF's High Priority Free Software Projects": https://directory.fsf.org/wiki/Collection:High_Priority_Projects
I agree SuperTramp, have an upvote. Who ever heard of using a web browser to watch an online video?

Works great. A little bit too good. I'm spending too much time catching up on videos.
Good stuff. Thanks for the link!
