When I pressed 'check' button in my Update Manager program today(15th October,2014), the following SECURITY UPDATE was selected;
client support for WPA and WPA2(IEEE802.11i)
After pressing the 'check' button I also pressed 'Description of update', to view the details of new update.
Update Manager then seems non-responsive (The cursor turned to a dial showing some processing going on, waited for an hour, but no result).
How can I stop the download manager from this process and start it afresh, because Ending Update Manager process from System Monitor simply closes the program, but the Update Manager is still busy when it is again invoked from System Settings Menu.

I killed the Update Manager window with 'xkill' and another invocation of it has installed the update.
