I've encountered this issue on Icedove, LibreOffice Writer and Pidgin. At times diacritical marks suddenly stop working (I'm using the Brazilian Portuguese keyboard layout). Usually this is solved by switching tabs on Pidgin, closing and reopening an Icedove window and minimizing and then maximizing LibreOffice Writer. It's very annoying.
It doesn't happen in Abrowser.
I have the same problem on a machine where I replaced Trisquel's standard desktop with Gnome from the Trisquel repositories.
It sometimes (not always) starts with the English keyboard. The user changes it to Spanish with the keyboard switcher on the top panel and everything is fine. But it is still somewhat bothersome.
Exactly! I also have that second issue.
For the record, my DE is Unity.
A change of keyboard input stack to XKB is planned for 7.0.1, which isn't too far away. Please retest on that release when the alpha becomes available in a 'when it's ready' amount of time.
Great, thanks leny
