Typing delay

Lately when I'm writing things on Pluma, it's very slow and not responsive, I have to wait roughly 1-2 seconds to write a letter.
I'm currently writing directly in DeepL with Tor Browser and there is no delay at all.
A similar thing has been happening with Abrowser for a few months now. This one is worse, most of the time it doesn't respond to typing at all. Sometimes when I press some alphabetic key, it jumps to the top of the page. It does not happen on Tor browser.
The X200's temperature is normal now, sometimes high, but I don't think the temperature has risen enough to cause a problem because it is always being cooled by a blower.
I just remembered that when I'm writing emails on Icedove, I get a similar phenomenon to the one on Pluma.
It's very stressful. I've put up with this nonsense for a long time, but there are limits.
What should I do?

Does this happen in other similar text editors? (Mousepad, gedit)
Has there been a similar bug reported for Pluma?

I have no other text editors. I like the name Pluma but I do not like the names Mousepad, gedit. However, I have just installed a text editor which I forget the name and it did not recognize Japanese characters. I am now downloading Emacs but the bitrate, I mean, the down stream bitrate is under 1kb/sec. So yeah. But I am not sure if it recognizes Japanese.

> Has there been a similar bug reported for Pluma?

No. Since it happens on Abrowser and the terminal, and Icedove, I think this is Trisquel's problem.

I do experience performance problems on legacy computers (e.g. 16 years old X40) too, but only when I use Chinese IME. The performance could be slightly improved by disabling certain features of the IME to reduce CPU load. What IME do you use when you experience the delay?

When you refer to Japanese characters (kanji or kana), which coding do you use (UTF-8 of Shift-JIS)?

FWIW, gedit does work with CJK / Unicode.

I am not familiar with Emacs and Mousepad, but I can recommend gedit, it's very much like Pluma as far as I can tell, probably Pluma's ancestor. The only complaint I have about it is that when I Ctrl+F something, it starts searching as soon as I have typed the first character, for example I want to search for "egregious", but before even letting me type that out, gedit will search for and highlight all instances of the letter "e" in the text, freezing my system for a while unless it's a very small file.

There is / was a serious typography-related bug in a pre-release of Trisquel 9, but I don't think it had much to do with CJK support, and while the bug persists despite updating the pre-release system at a post-release date, I have not managed to reproduce it on another machine using a fully post-release live system, which is one reason I have so far not posted about it in detail.

It happens on the password boxes too. What is that? Password boxes? This is unacceptable anyway.

Seems that I misunderstand something concerning your issue. Could you please explain.

It happened on file names changing.

Thanks for your support.

> I do experience performance problems on legacy computers (e.g. 16 years old X40) too, but only when I use Chinese IME.

It happens all the time on those applicaitons whatever the language is.

> The performance could be slightly improved by disabling certain features of the IME to reduce CPU load. What IME do you use when you experience the delay?

It seems to be Fcitx, Mozc, and Ibus.

> When you refer to Japanese characters (kanji or kana), which coding do you use (UTF-8 of Shift-JIS)?

I do not know how to know that.

> but I don't think it had much to do with CJK support,

I don't think so neither.

> There is / was a serious typography-related bug in a pre-release of Trisquel 9,

That must be the culprit.

> Could you please explain.

Password boxes are password boxes. You enter your password into the box.

Anyway after reboot, I am typing this on in comfort. Even on Abrowser, it is smooth. But it must happen again.

SaSS is somewhat worse than nonfree software: as explained in the link I gave, "SaaSS is equivalent to running proprietary software with spyware and a universal back door". You can do whatever you want in private. The problem is you advertising SaSS here. It goes against Trisquel's community guidelines: https://trisquel.info/en/wiki/trisquel-community-guidelines

I had never opened that other thread. The "free version" of DeepL is free of monetary cost, not free software. And I cannot believe that, this time, you have not noticed the advertisement for DeepL at the end of it. You even wrote after the advertisement. In other terms, you are willingly infringing the community guidelines.

Can you catch some air on a half-pipe?
This is an important question.

You posted some posts while you did not reply to my post.
That means, you cannot catch some air on a half-pipe. Haha.

I sent an email to DeepL team:

"Dear DeepL team,

Hello. My name is Masaru Suzuqi.
I recently learned about DeepL and I like its translation accuracy very
much.
There is a slander about DeepL on a web forum. I believe your service is
a good one, but some of them are perceived as old stereotypes and too
strict mind, then attack DeepL. They are very computer-savvy, but I'm
just a normal Linux user. So frustratingly I don't have many words to
rebut them.
Please read this thread.

https://trisquel.info/en/forum/typing-delay

How would you rebut it?
I would like to take your words to shut them up and make them appreciate
the goodness of DeepL. Once they see the goodness, they won't slander
you in the future. I need your help. And maybe vice verse.
I look forward to hearing from you.

Translated with www.DeepL.com/Translator (free version)

Sincerely,

Masaru Suzuqi"

Their reply:

"Dear Masaru,

thank you so much for your great feedback. We know that we provide the best machine translator on the market, due to many independent translators and language experts around the world who are using and preferring our product. But we also know that we are not (yet) perfect.

Our free version is free and we have some of the best IT engineers from all over Europe. If he knows better than us how to do it, he is welcome to apply for a job with us https://www.deepl.com/jobs.html

Unfortunately there is too much hate everybody wants to express in the internet, but it is wasted energy to respond to it. What bothers a troll most is to ignore him.

For further questions please don't hesitate to contact us again.

Best regards

In his reply, what the most important part is is that he wrote that "Our free version is free", after he read this thread. That would mean, I now strongly believe, DeepL is free software because he knows we were talking about what that "free" means in this thread. I believe this is free software.

But yeah, I know everything goes wrong for people who have had trouble with you in this forum. I know at least three users who got sorry consequences (heyjoe, zigote, calmstoom). So yeah, OK, I will be careful to delete the advertising you say from now on as you wish.

Great post. You managed to show at once that you are a liar, a manipulator, a slanderer and a complete idiot.

Picking a fight with MB, who is one of the most active and helpful users of this forum, while you regularly flood it with your nonsensical whims, only tells everything about your outstanding abilities.

You seemed to have taken the reasonable step of limiting your damage to the Troll Lounge for some time but you have obviously relapsed recently, as if you can hold it only so long. Ironically, MB is the one who went to great lengths to answer your off-topic requests. You seem to have a peculiar conception of gratefulness.

As far as you are concerned, let's just say that pissing people off any more doesn't make much difference in the depth of hell. It would be too deep there to understand people's anger.
Shut up and just be ready for the time when you pay for your sin.

OK, if you don't like my posts so much, why don't you delete my account and all my posts as well?
I think I've been writing things in the hope that someone might be saved to read my posts even if that was one person.
I have no intention of writing anything anymore while people are complaining about me. Satisfied? Good for you. I am not satisfied. Until give back it to you. At any cost. Delete my account and all my posts if you can do it.

I think you can do it yourself.

EDIT: this is not about self-respect but about common sense.
