Hi,

I installed 2 libraries in my TRISQUEL machine and the built-in wifi
got recognised and worked on the spot.
(tried to attach them here but it was rejected -too big):

1) b43-fwcutter_019-2_i386.deb
2) firmware-b43-installer_019-2_all.deb (part of a large zip file with
many versions of the wifi adapters).

Send me a mail and I will send you the files ;-)

Otherwise, just order an external wifi dongle from ThinkPinguin.com
(https://www.thinkpenguin.com/gnu-linux/penguin-wireless-n-usb-adapter)

A bit expensive but works like a charm out of the box in Trisquel !

Brgds,

Yvo.

That firmware is not free as in freedom. Neither is Skype.

If possible, replace the built-in Broadcom card with an Atheros ath5k/9k (but not Qualcomm Atheros ath10k), then you no longer need to load non-free firmware.

If not possible (probably because of "white-list" restrictions of the firmware), then purchase one ath9k_htc USB WLAN adapter. It still requires firmware to be loaded, but there are free firmware packages from Trisquel's or Debian's main repository.

For communications, Pidgin is highly recommended.
