Error while trying to update trisquel 7 to trisquel 8 : Could not calculate the upgrade

Hi

I try to update from trisquel 7 to trisquel 8.
Here is error: Could not calculate the upgrade
An unresolvable problem occurred while calculating the upgrade.

This can be caused by:
* Upgrading to a pre-release version of Trisquel
* Running the current pre-release version of Trisquel
* Unofficial software packages not provided by Trisquel

If none of this applies, then please report this bug using the command https://trisquel.info/en/project/issues in a browser..

Could you help me to resolve it?

Well, it would be helpful to provide the entire output of the package manager and not just the ending message because that should show the *real* error. But also, Trisquel 7 is no longer supported so it may be necessary to reinstall.

Hi Lynn,

Take a look in the file `/etc/apt/sources.list`...

If it already says 'flidas' on each line then try running `apt-get update && apt-get dist-upgrade` in a terminal to see full error messages.

If it still says `belenos` on each line then try running `do-release-upgrade` in a terminal to see full error messages.

No flidas in source.list... So I used do-release-upgrade command.. and I obtained same error.

I got this error message too and I replied YES to question.
Updating repository information

No valid mirror found

While scanning your repository information no mirror entry for the
upgrade was found. This can happen if you run an internal mirror or
if the mirror information is out of date.

Do you want to rewrite your 'sources.list' file anyway? If you choose
'Yes' here it will update all 'belenos' to 'flidas' entries.
If you select 'No' the upgrade will cancel.

I'm afraid I don't have much to add. I haven't ever actually done the upgrade from 7->8.

The only thing further I might suggest is to say 'Yes' to the flidas entries, then run `apt-get update` followed by `apt-get dist-upgrade` and see if that gives some more output.

You would then need to change the `flidas` back to `belenos` in `/etc/apt/sources.list` if you need to grab any other belenos packages in future, though.

If you installed PPAs, try 'ppa-purge' (in Trisquel's repository) before attempting again the upgrade to Trisquel 8.

Hi I still have issue to update to trisquel with same error.

Yes Its the command i done *apt-get update* just before I get this error message...

My objective to fully upgrade to trisquel. but I tried to complete apt-get update command without error..and try again to install...

Hi I completed this installation with the command you provided ,thank you.. I need to reboot to see if all goes well.
After I completed, a message appeared that root partition has only 900 megabytes free space... Can you tell me if I could resize root partition? If yes which command I should use and how many GB you would suggest for this partition.

I remember to have used gnome-disks in Ubuntu to resize mounted root
partition (live), but I don't remember which Ubuntu version was.

I rebooted and i got error . I cannot boot s so i use livecd to boot.i try to access e encrypted partition. IT asks passphrase. I entered passphrase and i see main user folder but i get error the folder contents could not be displayed. You do not have the permissions necessary to view the contents
What i should Do? Ty

You might need to be root. Try right-clicking the folder and selecting
"Open as administrator".

I did this . And i dont see content or folder . I see readme file. With msg this directory has been unmounted to protect your data ...how could i resolve this ? ty

It's very useful to have home partition with Debian based distros because the upgrade process it's a nightmare, so if you have home partition you don't need to upgrade your system, you can make a clean install preserving home partition and you will not lose any of your stuff in home partition.

When i sudo chroot /mnt i can not ping any domain on internet. So i get error unable to resolve host trisquel with Apt update ty
