Hi all. In update manager I have this message:

Your current Hardware Enablement Stack (HWE) is going out of support
on 07/08/14. After this date security updates for critical parts (kernel
and graphics stack) of your system will no longer be available.

For more information, please see:
http://wiki.ubuntu.com/1204_HWE_EOL

Is it safe to install this and stay free? I have Jxselfs saucy libre kernel.

Thanks

You won't add any non-libre software by installing a package from the Trisquel repos, though at the same time, their proposed solution (installing linux-generic-lts-trusty) won't work at least on 64-bit systems, because the latest version of that hasn't been built and so trying to install it results in an error. This really should be fixed...

Thanks for the reply onpon4. I have the 64-bit version of Trisquel 6. Should I press the upgrade button or not? Thanks again.

It was fixed, the linux-image-3.13.0-32-generic package is there, at least on Belenos.

EDIT: Nvm, it's not fixed on Toutatis.

It does not work on 32-bit either. Install linux-image-3.13.0-30-generic and leave linux-image-generic-lts-trusty (a meta-package) with its unsatisfied dependency.

I use Trisquel 6.0 and have no problems upgrading the stack. Have you sync'ed the database? "apt-get update", or aptitude instead of apt-get. If the problem remains, please tell us if your computer is 32 or 64 bits.

Start from installing libgl1-mesa-glx-lts-trusty if you wish to pick and choose. If you want to go whole hog and get any and all packages, follow

I just edited that page to remove the commands for installing the older (unsupported) stacks and advise to upgrade to the Trusty stack if you installed one of those stacks. Also added a link to a bug with a workaround for installing the stack if the command fails.

As for today 08/08/2014 the packages missing are available, at least for i386.

Please check if you can do the upgrade too :)

I upgraded on amd64 a few days (Trisquel 6), so I guess it's only for i386.

It works for me now. I'm using the AMD64 system.
