I am very happy
I can not describe this feeling
Today will be celebrated
Because of this news
Thank you Ruben
Thank you for all
To me, it's been as good as released for months :)
So, which day it will be available to download officially from main site trisquel.info?
Um, "next week." That's a day, right? :)
I can't try Trisquel 7. I made bootable usb stick using $ cat trisquel7.iso > /dev/sdb and I boot computer from this usb stick take english language and take try trisquel without installing and I see only black screen.
Hmmmm, I've always gotten bootable usb by using dd; never tried cat. For my purposes, as well, 7 has been as good as released for a while. Glad it's officially coming soon, and will check the very-latest iso for show-stoppers; I don't expect any; :)
dd also doesn't work. The same happen when I try to boot some new Linux Mint, also the same: black screen and nothing happen.
About time. The Ubuntu release, 14.04, came out in April and has been stable for some time. Even saw a point release with 14.04.1.
My apologies ladies and gentlemen but I found strange the following:
>> Custom desktop based on GNOME 3.12 fallback.
I though Trisquel 7 will ship with GNOME 3.10 so I think there is a mistake somewhere.
If the mistake is mine, please, tell me.
"""
>Moved to DVD format, now with 50+ languages and extra applications
"""
no, no , no
I agree with you generally, because not everyone has DVD drives and fast internet connections.
I can send you a boot disc and DVD drive by mail if you like (I mean, if that's the issue).
This is great news; let's hope we're back to releasing about 6 months after the Ubuntu on which it's based.
Will the new website come in the next week too? No rush -- just wondering, because I read that the OS and website will come at the same time.
Speaking of the site, I'd like to be a Filipino translator for it! :D
Awesome
I remember reading that the new website will accomodate more languages
Yup!
pogiako12345
Good Luck in finding the Filipino Translator, be ready to pay "good old "PERA" meaning "MONEY" for that kind of service. They could read and they are better off in English.
Tagalog translation is a big mix of English and their many dialects of languages they use such as "Chinese, Spanish and Malay." Let's not forget the other provincial dialects/languages they use.
I think I'm far more fluent than most Filipinos who use mix Filipino nowadays? I'm trying to speak pure Filipino lately, one of the main reasons is to be a site translator :D
This is exciting news. Trisquel has been the first Linux I have used exclusively. I have used it now for over a year, and have thoroughly enjoyed it. I have been able to use it for all things that I do, including work, which is a Windows networking environment.
I am anxious to try this new update.

GNU/Linux! :)
(See https://gnu.org/gnu/gnu-linux-faq.html )
Glad to hear you like Trisquel, windoze is for decepticons anyways!
Pardon me, GNU/Linux. This was a slip. :-o
"windoze is for decepticons anyways!"
to comment further..
lets see - would someone rather install windbloooz and then spend a rather long time locking it up, installing antivirus-antimalware-antyspyware and all that sh.t , defragmenting the drive, optimizing registry and all kind of stupid useless problems . not to mention that the os and the great part of the programs it runs are proprietary-closed source-god knows what'ya doing with my data-crap!!
ooor
install a gnu/linux distro (better yet if 100% free sotware like trisquel)
and relax
and enjoy
:)
Word brah, word!
I have to admit, the simplicity of it all does keep me very happy with Trisquel on top of all the freedom. :D
Just for those interested, RC4 image is now available - http://devel.trisquel.info/makeiso/iso/rc4/
Thank you
Tx for notification. Is it possible to upgrade from 6 to 7 with RC4 and then continue on the "stable" track after it is released, or should I just wait until it is released?
To celebrate I'm hereby issuing a $50 coupon code for any computer purchased with Trisquel 7 @ http://libre.thinkpenguin.com/
The coupon code is only good for people in the United States. If your purchasing from outside of the United States just include a note in the checkout comments and we'll issue a $50 refund instead (our system can't handle these conditions at this time unfortunately). Bonjour,
Quels processeurs proposés pour "Penguin Pro 5 GNU / Linux Desktop" gèrent les instructions de virtualisation Intel VT ?
Cordialement, nmrk.n
=========================================================================
Hello,
What proposed processors for " Penguin Pro 5 GNU / Linux Desktop " manage the instructions of virtualisation Intel VT?
Cordially, nmrk.n
You can look it up on http://ark.intel.com. Just search the processor name and skip to the "Advanced technologies" section. For instance http://ark.intel.com/products/77773/Intel-Pentium-Processor-G3220-3M-Cache-3_00-GHz?wapkw=g3220 tells you that this processor supports "Intel® Virtualization Technology (VT-x)" and "Intel® VT-x with Extended Page Tables (EPT)" but not "Intel® Virtualization Technology for Directed I/O (VT-d)".
I believe that the processor does not just have to be compatible Intel VT but that mother also has the card(map) to be him...
https://www.thinkpenguin.com/gnu-linux/penguin-pro-5-gnu-linux-desktop : Nothing is said ? ?
North Bridge Chipset Intel B85 :
http://ark.intel.com/products/75019 Intel® Virtualization Technology for Directed I/O (VT-d) ‡ No
Intel® Virtualization Technology VT-x ? ? ? Nothing is said ? ?
Processor 4th Gen Intel Core i3, i5, or i7
http://ark.intel.com/products/75123/Intel-Core-i7-4770K-Processor-8M-Cache-up-to-3_90-GHz?q=4770k
Intel® Virtualization Technology (VT-x) ‡ Yes
Intel® Virtualization Technology for Directed I/O (VT-d) ‡ No
It seems to me that has the card(map) mother and the processor to be Intel VT
I gets confused there
====================================================================================================
Of the blow I do not manage to determine if the configuration below can suit me :

Graphics Card: GeForce 8400GS 1GB PCI Express 2.0 Video Card

Desktop Warranty: 1 Yr Ltd Hardware Warranty
Mousepads: Penguin Branded Mouse Pad
USB Flash Drive: Select
Printers & All-in-one Machines: Select
Power Cable: Europe - Plug Type Europlug (CEE 7/16)
Distribution to Install: Trisquel 7
====================================================================================================
For mobiles it is more clear But I prefer the desktop machine :
https://www.thinkpenguin.com/gnu-linux/emperor-penguin-gnu-linux-notebook
Intel VT Technology Yes (No VT-d)
====================================================================================================
At the moment I have one couple of weeks in front of me because further to an importing purchase I have to wait that my ceiling of outstanding discounted bills credit card authorized is reconstituted but I am going to have to decide.
====================================================================================================
Normally I had sent the question via the site but I do not see answer ?
Is there a way to update from 6.0.1 to 7.0 without having to
install it as a new system?
I sometimes check the repositories through Aptitude, and after
updating the cache twice (since in the first time I get an
error, something about not being able to reach one of Trisquel's
repositories), but the Triskel package version stays the same
and Aptitude reports no updates to it (and yes, I'm using KDE).
I also tried a simulation with:
sudo apt-get -s dist-upgrade
But I couldn't see any messages regarding a distribution
upgrade.
Best regards, ADFENO.
Have a nice day.

The Trisquel 6->7 upgrade method is documented here

But I don't know if it'll work with Triskel (KDE). So do those
backups quidam mentions in the instructions.

Is there the same offer if I choose Trisquel 6.0 ?
What if I buy several laptops ? fixed 50$ or 50$ a laptop ?
Still possible to come to London, take there the laptops (and other products I buy) and pay cash ?
It's a coupon for $50 *discount* on a computer loaded with Trisquel 7, not the whole computer for $50.
Yes, I understood that 50$ is the discount. I asked : if I buy two laptops, is the discount 100$ ? [If I buy n laptops, is the discount 50n$ ?]
Sorry! Quite by accident you happened to hit on a form of words often
used by a local minority to open bartering in my youth.
I suggest you go here

And either get their GPG key or use the contact form to speak to
Thinkpenguin direct. Chris has posted here since your last update, so
might have already missed it once.

Okay, thanks. I will send him an email.
Thank you very much. Keep up the good work. Your effort is highly appreciated. :-)
I just upgraded and Trisquel 7 looks lovely. It may be slightly slower(?) on my old, Inspiron 1520, than 6.0, but just a little. We shall see how it performs in the days to come.
Many thanks for all the hard work.

I'll give you 3 weeks, before you will post, screaming your lungs that something is not working properly....
Trisquel 6 had problems too, you know. Software has bugs. That's just a fact of life.
In which case I reckon it's something upstream. I've been using Trisquel 7 for months - it's working nicely (except thatI've got this awful habit of wiping out a partition every few weeks and replacing it with another installation with another desktop shell. I hope it will end soon).

You are the typical PC user , who is on the position of economical disadvantage, but yet, no one is not helping you for a real solution.
Yet, someone will post about purchasing a laptop from THINK PENGUIN, half of them, will jump the band wagon, screaming! buy it!, go and buy it!, But no one will help you with your WIFI issue... Good marketing strategy, I will not fall for it..
What marketing strategy?
And what has that got to do with this particular thread anyway?
