I had problems with my x60 overheating. I'm running the latest Libreboot and Trisquel 7. At first I thought it was simply that the thermal compound was old, so I opened the machine and applied new compound. The temps were still not all that great. I installed thinkfan, so I can at least force the fan into "disengaged" mode after the temperature goes past 66 degrees Celsius. I know some of you guys have the Gluglug X60, so I would like to kindly ask for some help.

At what temperature does your computer idle? If you stress it using "stress -c 2" how long does it take to go over 90 degrees? If not, what is the max temperature your computer goes up to?

Also, could one of you guys with the Gluglug check to see if the system has thinkfan installed? If so, could you please upload somewhere the configuration file from /etc. Thanks for the help!

I bought myself a dinky TV dinner tray to put my Libreboot X60s on for Christmas. Since then the ventilation holes at the bottom have been left in the clear and I haven't had an overheat. I'm not running thinkfan, but am running last stable Libreboot rather than any from the current beta series.

Another useful package might be cpufreqd which controls the freq the cpu at runs depending e.g. on the temp.
