1) First of all, greetings and many thanks to every single person and collective that makes possible that Trisquel Project continue growing being a polished, stable and attractive/good looking reality that takes seriously the GNU Freedom philosophy.

I have a doubt (that I didn't be able to resolve searching on Trisquel.info):

2) Is there any kind of official release version schedule? The only info I found was some threads talking about 6 months pseudo-synchronization with Ubuntu work-flow. Does exist a formal calendar from the Trisquel Team?

3) I decided two weeks ago to become a Trisquel Member as an act of responsibility and consciousness in front the drift that is taking the technology world. And now, I want to make a step ahead and also offer my time/acknowledge to translate the whole Trisquel.info Website to "Catalan" language. I think this could be an strategic and important issue to lure catalan people to Trisquel. (There are a bit more than 13.500.000 catalan speakers worldwide mainly at "Països Catalans" ("Catalan Countries" : Catalunya, València, Balearic Islands)

I hope to locate Ruben, perhaps SirGrant or anyone who can help me with this ASAP.

The road map is not official but Trisquel versions appear to be predictably released:
* during the LibrePlanet event... that is within two days for Trisquel 5.5 Brigantia: http://libreplanet.org/wiki/LibrePlanet2012/Schedule ;
* for the software freedom day, i.e., Trisquel 6.0 will probably be released September 15th 2012: http://softwarefreedomday.org

To contact quidam, you can try this form although many people have not been successful in this way. That is why I simply recommend you to join the #trisquel channel on irc.freenode.net. Quidam almost always is connected (although not always responding). You can follow this excellent documentation on how to connect to IRC. If I were you, I would wait for the end LibrePlanet. Quidam must be pretty busy polishing Brigantia. ;-)

I usually stay at #trisquel / #trisquel-es but, at least, the 90% of time quidam is away xD

Thanks by the info about the events/predicted releases.
I supose that to establish a regular/strict time-line to release final versions must be very difficult to support without a heavy active team of developers dedicated to the distro.

To conclude, do you (or anyone) know if there is an "autonomous responsible" legitimated to manage the translation team ? perhaps SirGrant ? Or must I address to quidam ?

Quidam is away at the moment because he is in the USA (he normally lives in Spain) because last weekend was NorthEast GNU/Linux Fest and this weekend is LibrePlanet. Plus the latest version 5.5 is expected to be released this weekend so I think he is probably as well putting the finishing touches on it.

Unfortunately though even though I have a translator tag I am not one (I only speak English) but I mainly work on the English documentation so I don't have the power to add a new language.

Unfortunately, we might have to ask you to wait until after this weekend when 5.5 is released and Quidam returns to Spain to setup the new language. However that shouldn't stop you. You could start translation work and just save the info on your own PC so that when we do get it setup you already have some stuff started.

I just got some admin powers as recently as last week but adding languages/translations was not one of them. I think we are working on that but as of right now I don't have that ability. Sorry.

It's all right!

I will just do what you suggest me about the local translation to advance with the issue.

Thanks for your reply, SirGrant :)

PD (offtopic) : I suspect that there won't be any clean way to update a BETA 5.5 ISO installation to the Brigantia FINAL RELEASE of the LibrePlanet, isn't it? :(

As far as I know, there is no real organization beneath quidam (Trisquel's leader). Anyway, it may be a good idea to contact any other person who was involved in the translation of the website content and may have gain some useful experience. Take a look at the results of this search: https://trisquel.info/en/search/node/translation

Why is this? Does he choose to make it a solo operation or there not enough people willing to help him with the organization?

Actually the issue of translations are pretty bad. Although recently it was added some improvements, like a bar of quick translation, or the mailing list (
http://listas.trisquel.info/mailman/listinfo/trisquel-translators ), but there are few people to translate and we are definitely not coordinated (as the overall project, in my opinion). We'll wait after the Brigantia release.
Here also there were people offering to translate into Catalan (https://trisquel.info/forum/nuevo-en-trisquel )
Moreover, this is a common theme in Trisquel and I hate: people willing to help and no response, or with many impediments, when it should be the opposite.

Anyway, I attach the .pot files for you to take a look, you can translating online or export and import, but I never tried to import so I do not know if it would work well (plus there're any errors in the files https://trisquel.info/issues/4436 )

Thank you very much for your info/resources.

I'm just subscribed to the mailing-list now.

During the day will review the rest.

I took a look to the .pot files and I just wonder to know if there is an spanish version of these text files.

It would facilitate me a lot the work given that my english isn't too brilliant.

Yes, but even if you're translating the files I recommend you do it better from the web, if after have problems with the pot files. Also as you might have appreciated many original strings are in multiple languages. It's a bit confusing.
What you can be doing is translating the main page news (though not all), and then have to be publishing on the same order as the original publication if not the newest left behind.
And wiki is another topic... ;)
