Can somebody tell me how I can install alternative themes, change the appearance of taskbar e.t.c ? Without having to modify something, are there any ready user-made packages ?

There are a few.

Go to the Trisquel menu, click on System Settings, then click on Advanced Settings, in the left pane of the new window, click on Theme. There you can change the Window, Cursor, Icon, and GTK+ theme.

Ok, I've tested them out... I think the "trisquel theme" should be default to the distro. Way better & more slick than the one that is currently default.

The "trisquel theme" is the default. I don't know why the other theme is called "default".

To me it was "Adwaita (default)"

Adwaita says "default" because it's the default GNOME theme. Trisquel still defaults to the Trisquel theme.

I am sure that after I made the installation, without making any changes, Adwaita was the default theme to me.

Why didn't Ruben make Adwaita the default theme? Looks much more aesthetically pleasing.

That grey task-bar might initially turn a few people off.
