I want to know the news regarding our next LTS:
Trisquel 8.0 LTS
Let's discuss blog like: new Features, major Fixes, Upgrades, Changes, Codename etc. and much more..............
I have read on the omgubuntu that Ubuntu Software Center will be removed and the GNOME Software will be used instead. So I wonder if 'Software' will be used as the default graphical package manager or not.

I hope so. gnome-app-install is quite terribly dated...
Trisquel 8 will have MATE instead of GNOME.
Is quidam your source? Any reference?
What is your reference?
Cool! Best DE after Xfce!! (IMHO that is)
Long live the mate MATE
Even though I love gnome's tools, MATE seems better maintained than gnome-fallback and the developers of MATE are implementing GTK3 which is good news for me.
I would love to see the return of the transparent panel. Do you remember how beautiful Brigantia was?

Personally, I hope the lite version uses LXQt in place of LXDE
Maybe we could have a Wayland and/or mir preview session. Even if only with extra packages.
Looks like the next upstream LTS version Trisquel 8 will be based on has a lot of wayland and mir packages so that probably will be included.
Thpugh probably not if Jason is right about MATE (unless they're working on Wayland support as well?)

If Trisquel 8 is really going with Mate as default, that's great news! I'm using Mate in another distro and liking it; have a layout that looks a lot like Trisquel's default, having a single panel and column of menus.
