Has anyone tested Brave Browser? How free is it?
The fact that it's based off of Google's Chrummium Browser is enough for me to stay away.
I think like 2-3 years ago, someone combed through the Chromium source code and he gave up. It would be curious to see what the status is of the licenses inside the code and if the browser can be rebuilt without the questionable bits. I think Chromium is a great browser, but people around here don't seem to trust it.
Hopefully Mozilla's upcoming Servo based browser closes the gap with Chrome/Chromium. There are test builds for GNU/Linux at https://download.servo.org
I could not run it. It threw an error "error while loading shared libraries: libssl.so.1.0.0: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory". I just browsed through the files and found Dr. Zoidberg shouting at someone with a bad certificate.
I recently tried Parabola GNU/Linux live. There was Elinks installed by default. That's a brave browser, a tool for the courageous CLI addicts. It's mouse-driven, so quite easy to use when clicking on the hyperlinks.

I refer to links and lynx as the chain and the cat, respectively. It's a meme that started in the early 2000s, among some blind GNU/Linux users. People who read with speech have an easier time distinguishing them.
