can I delete a post that I have started?

You cannot delete a post you started? Why not? You can edit a comment you posted, you cannot delete it? Why not?
If I write a post and afterward get to know, that it is against forum rules, I want to delete it.

You can't truly delete anything posted here because the forum is connected to a mailing list. Edits to old posts do not show up there due to how the mailing list works.
